Die Sammlung widmet sich schwerpunktmäßig zeitgenössischen Künstler:innen, die durch ihr Studium, ihre Lehrtätigkeit, ihren Wohnort oder ihre künstlerischen Inhalte in Verbindung mit Düsseldorf, dem Rheinland oder dem Ruhrgebiet stehen.
Ergänzt wird die Sammlung durch international herausragende „young emerging artists“.
