The artist says:
My primary objective is to paint from emotional memory, channelling my inner child – the most authentic and uninhibited version of my creative self. I am particularly interested in how environments make us feel. Specifically, moments and places that bring comfort and how that can imprint on our memory.

I have an obsession with brushstrokes and the compositional tension between colour and texture.
My practice is driven by spontaneity, intuition and the need to work a painting until I feel it is completely harmonious but still challenges the status quo.

I have studied at length and am naturally drawn to abstract expressionism – it is a language to me. I am strongly influenced by founders Willem de Kooning, Joan Mitchell and Grace Hartigan and later Phillip Guston.

I hope my art speaks to the viewers’ own inner child. I believe if we can relate to others in this way, we can be more understanding, accepting and empathetic with others and the world would be a better place.
